Promotion Rules and
Assessment Details

The thematic approach is favoured from Nursery to Class XII

Through joyful group learning experience, exploration, discovery and experimentation, the pupils learn. They develop:

(a)  the basic skills of communication viz. speaking, writing, reading, calculating and creative art.

(b)    the study skills of  scientific and methodical learning viz. observation, classification, estimation, analytical reasoning and cause-effect relationships.

(c)    the social skills of wholesome interaction with their peers viz. cooperation, sharing and mutual respect.

(d)    Promotion at the end of the year will be based on attendance, continuous assessment in every subject, work done during the year and the overall conduct record. Parents are requested not to send their sick wards to school only to take a test.

In case, a child is absent for a particular class test, no retest will be conducted for the said exam.

PROMOTION RULES : In order to be promoted to the next Class a student must secure :

( i )   Classes I & II  : 50 percent of the aggregate marks in all subjects

(ii )   Classes III to VIII :  40 percent of the aggregate marks in  all subjects

(iii ) Classes IX to XII : 40 percent of the aggregate marks in all subjects

The unit system is followed for all classes.  The system divides the syllabus of each subject into clearly defined blocks of related matter.  Eg. One or more chapters of a text book.  As soon as the matter of a particular unit has been completed in class, the students are assessed. 

The assessment copies and answer scripts are duly evaluated and handed over to the students to take home and to be shown to the Parents.  Parents are requested to sign and return them to the school.  Parents attention is drawn to the fact that  the ability of the students to express themselves clearly and to present their class work neatly and accurately is taken into account in assessing their work in all subjects.

Regular class assessment, Attendance and Daily Application will be considered for promotion.  Active participation in co-curricular activities and project work, Art, SUPW etc. will be part of the Internal assessment.

Nursery & K.G : Will be assessed on their daily work.

Classes I to III :   There will be continuous evaluation of class work for 40 marks, class tests and project.

Classes IV to VIIIThe First and Final Assessment will be of 100 marks. Class Tests will be conducted throughout the year and will be computed for the report of Internal assessment. Class work, application and regular attendance will be taken into consideration for Internal Assessment.

Class IXThere will be three assessments for 100 marks each of which 80% for block test and 20% for class test will be computed for the assessment.

Active participation in Co- Curricular activities, project work and regularity in attendance will be taken into account for promotion

The students must prepare their daily lessons at home, review their work before class and revise their lessons after class.  Parents must insist on punctuality & regularity.

A pupil who misses a written assignment/block test will not be allowed to appear for the same at a later date.  If the absence is justified, the matter will be taken into account at the time of promotion.  Parents are therefore requested not to send their children who are ill or recovering from an illness for the assignment /test.  Study leave will be granted to the ICSE students after their Selection Examination.

Class XI: There will be three Assessments conducted for 100 marks Weekly CLASS TESTS, REGULAR ATTENDANCE & APPLICATION will be considered for promotion.

Subjects like Moral Science, Art, Science Practicals, S.U.P.W etc. will be part of the Internal Assessment.

Active participation in Co-curricular activities, project work and regularity in attendance will be included in the Internal Assessment.

Class XII : There will be two assessments  and pre-board (selection ) examination before the ISC Exam.

Study leave will be granted to the ISC students after their Selection Examination.

IN ALL QUESTIONS OF PROMOTION, OR FAILURE, THE PRINCIPAL’S DECISION IS FINAL.
